Today’s daily challenges are based on Minibeasts.

Can you:

1. Listen to the mad about mini-beasts story on YouTube. Can you find any other stories linked to Minibeasts? What the ladybird heard is a favourite at nursery! Sing songs such as Incy Wincy spider, wiggly woo etc.
2. Choose one of your favourite mini-beasts and create your own craft to represent this. Get creative and use a range of different resources.
3. Can you go on a hunt for some mini-beasts in the garden? You could create your own checklist and use this to help you. Tick off what you find.
4. Create your own spider (with no legs!) paint or draw a circle for the body and colour it in. Add some eyes. Use pegs to make its legs; count them as you put them on. How many legs does the Spider need? Extension for older children – write numbers 1-8 on the pegs and ask your child to stick them on in order 1-8.
5. Create your own bug hotel – research online for some ideas!
6. Collect some large stones from outside and make your own Minibeasts by painting them. What colours do you need to use? What patterns do you need? Once dry, these can be used to make your own small world for imaginative play.
7. Make some playdough and use this to create your own minibeasts. Can you roll your playdough into a ‘worm’ shape and use shells or stones to stick in your playdough to make your own snails.
8. Can you create your own butterfly? Draw a template of your butterfly on paper and fold it in half. Decorate half of yourself butterfly with paint; add spots and different patterns. Fold the paper in half again and press down to create the other half of your butterfly!
9. Can you learn some facts about different minibeasts and create your own simple fact files.
10. Can you create your own Mini-beasts using leaves, sticks and stones outdoors in the garden? What features do they have? Discuss these whilst making your picture.
